Custom Power Assemblies & Whips
Fast & Reliable Power Assemblies & Whips for Critical Infrastructure
Cablcon builds custom power assemblies and whips engineered for performance, safety, and speed - because when you’re powering a data center or critical system, there’s no room for failure. From design to delivery, our assemblies arrive fully built, tested, and ready to install.

What Makes Cablcon Power Assemblies Different?
Cablcon assemblies are engineered to simplify your deployment—built to spec, fully tested, and packaged to perform in critical environments.
Custom Engineered Per Your Specifications
Complete custom solutions designed to your specifications. We can help you select the right combination of devices, cable, conduit and termination based on your project needs. Additional Value-Add services such as Kitting, Rack & Stack, Custom labeling & Packaging, and Test Reports are also offered.
Quick Turn and Short Lead Times
Same or next day turn around for most assemblies. Each whip and assembly is fully terminated, labeled and packaged to minimize jobsite prep and speed up deployment.
Rigorous Quality & Testing
All components are UL, NEC and CSA certified as well as IP 44 and IP 67 rated. Our ISO9001 and TL9000 assembly and manufacturing floors ensure every build meets the rigorous quality requirements outlined in available test reports. Additional testing available by request.
Power Assemblies and Whips Breakdown: Components & Functions
A Cablcon power assembly or whip is engineered for reliability, performance, and installation efficiency built using high-quality components, precise manufacturing standards, and value-add services designed to simplify deployment and support project success.
| Component | Function |
|---|---|
| IEC Pin & Sleeve (IEC 60309) | Permanent or semi-permanent PDU whips under raised floors or in high-density racks; industrial-grade reliability |
| NEMA (Twist-Lock or Straight-Blade) | Rack PDUs and plug-in equipment fed from floor whips or overhead busways in controlled environments |
| Cam-Lock (Single-Pole) | Temporary power, UPS tie-ins, generator hookups, and maintenance bypass systems |
| Mechanical / Compression Lugs | Main power feeds, bus duct terminations, switchgear, PDU input panels, and high-current distribution |
| Plug (Male Device) | The portable power input that inserts into a receptacle to draw power |
| Connector (Female Cord-End Device) | Provides a female termination on the end of a portable cord; mates with a male inlet |
| Inlet (Male Device) | Accepts power from a female connector — the reverse of a receptacle; power flows into the device |
| THHN / THWN-2 | Used in permanent conduit runs feeding PDUs or panels — not for flexible power whips due to stiffness and single-conductor design |
| SOOW (Service Cord) | Most common choice for PDU power whips – durable, flexible, and compliant for portable cord assemblies. Ideal for underfloor data center installations |
| Type W (Portable Power Cable) | Used for high-current or long-run power whips and UPS/distribution feeders where added robustness or flexibility is required |
| DLO (Diesel Locomotive Cable) | Used for high-current, low-voltage DC or UPS applications, or whips feeding heavy PDU loads where superior flexibility and current handling are needed |
| SC (Stage & Lighting Cable) | Used for temporary or portable power, Cam-Lock systems, UPS bypass connections, and generator tie-ins requiring quick-connect, high-current capability |
| Metallic Conduit (EMT, IMC, or Rigid Steel) | Used for permanent branch circuits between RPPs, PDUs, and junction boxes under raised floors or overhead |
| Non-Metallic Conduit (PVC, ENT, or HDPE) | Used outside data halls or for underground feeds to PDUs and electrical rooms. Rarely used under raised floors |
| Liquid-Tight Flexible Conduit (LFMC / “Sealtite”) | Most common conduit for PDU power whips under raised floors or in overhead drops. Connects RPP or floor outlet to rack-mounted PDU |
| Breakers | Provide circut protection, load management, and selective coordination for PDUs, RPPs, and panelboards feeding power whips and assemblies |
| Back Boxes | Serve as the mounting and termination point for receptcles, inlets, and conduit ends in raised floors, walls, or overhead power distribution |
| Faceplates | Provide a clean, protected interface for mounted receptacles or inlets maintaining labeling, safety, and code compliance at point of use |
| Receptacle (Female Device) | Provides the fixed power outlet that accepts a plug to deliver electrical power |
