Conduits
Choosing the Right Conduit for Power Whip Applications
Selecting the right conduit for power whips requires balancing safety, flexibility, and environmental conditions. Our conduit solutions are engineered to deliver the strength, adaptability, and long-term reliability required in mission-critical environments, with sizes ranging from 0.5” to 1.25”.
Metallic Conduit (EMT / IMC)
Metallic conduit is ideal for fixed branch circuits supplying rack-mounted PDUs, floor boxes, and permanent wiring in underfloor or ceiling trays
- Best for: Permanent infrastructure
- Application: Carries THHN/THWN conductors from power panels or RPPs to floor boxes or drop locations
- Why Choose It: Provides robust, durable, and grounded protection for high-density circuits while meeting NEC and local code requirements for permanent installations. Provides excellent mechanical and EMI shielding giving it a long service life
Non-Metallic Conduit (PVC / HDPE)
Non-metallic conduit is typically used outside of active data halls where corrosion resistance and cost efficiency are key considerations.
- Best for: Secondary, non-critical, exterior, or underground feeds and applications requiring easy to cut/assemble conduit
- Application: Feeds into the data hall or underground raceways leading to main switchgear or RPPs
- Why Choose It: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and cost-effective for non-plenum, non-IT spaces. Not commonly used within active data halls due to fire-rating and grounding limitations
Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit (LFMC)
LFMC is the most common choice for power whip connections where adaptability and environmental protection are required.
- Best for: Flexible connections to rack-mounted PDUs
- Application: Connects facility outlets to rack PDU inputs, typically supporting 30A–60A circuits at 208V or 415V
- Why Choose It: Allows for rack movement, vibration isolation, and easy cutting, termination and routing safely around underfloor obstructions. Watertight construction protects against moisture and humidity-prone environments
Engineered Conduit Options for Various Protection Requirements
Designed for high-availability environments, our conduits support full solutions requiring safe installations, simplified routing, and adaptability to changing infrastructure without compromising performance or compliance.
| Conduit Type | Construction & Material | Voltage / Temp Rating | Environmental Protection | Flexibility | Typical Applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metallic Conduit (EMT, IMC, Rigid Steel) | Steel or aluminum construction with a smooth interior. Available in EMT (thinwall), IMC, and rigid steel. |
600V rated
Typical temperature rating up to 90°C | Excellent mechanical protection for dry or damp locations. | Low | Permanent branch circuits between RPPs, PDUs, and junction boxes under raised floors or overhead. |
| Non-Metallic Conduit (PVC, ENT, HDPE) | Lightweight PVC or plastic resin construction. Corrosion-resistant and easy to handle. |
600V rated
50–90°C depending on type | Moisture-resistant; limited to non-plenum, non-fire-rated environments. |
Low (PVC)
Moderate (ENT) | Used outside data halls or for underground feeds and electrical room installations. |
| Liquid-Tight Flexible Conduit (LFMC / Sealtite) | Helically wound galvanized steel core with PVC or polyurethane outer jacket. |
600V rated
-40°C to +90°C continuous operation | Watertight, oil-tight, and dust-tight (NEMA 4X / IP66–IP67). | High | Most common conduit for power whips connecting RPPs or floor outlets to rack-mounted PDUs. |
